Description
The os300-600 FBG Tubular Strain Sensor is a
transducer that transforms a static or dynamic
distance variation into a change in reflected
wavelength of a pre-stressed Fiber Bragg Grating
that can be precisely measured with Micron
Optics' sensing instruments.
os300-600 sensors are available in double-ended
and chained configurations. It is possible to connect more than 5 full-range
sensors in series on a single optical fiber.
Applications
Long-term monitoring, risk and damage
assessment of:
Civil Structures/Civionics (bridges, dams, tunnels, buildings)
Energy (wind turbines, pipelines, nuclear reactors)
Aerospace Vehicles (composite structures, wind tunnels, dynamic tests)
Oil & Gas (platform structural health monitoring)
Marine Vessels (hull, mast, rudder, submarine pressure tests)
Transportation (railways, roadways)

Basic Sensor Construction:
The os300-600 is composed of active and passive parts.
The active part contains the measurement fiber and measures the deformations between its two ends,
transforming it into a wavelength shift of the Fiber Bragg Grating. The passive part
(connecting cable) is insensitive to deformations and is used to connect the sensor to the
Micron Optics instrument.
The os300-600 is terminated with FC/APC-type connectors. os300-600
sensors can be quickly and easily installed. Using optional mounting brackets, the os300-600 can
be mounted to nearly any material surface. Call Micron Optics regarding your specific application.
